FAQ
What makes PCCNI different from other cashew nut suppliers?
PCCNI is a farmer-owned cooperative, not just a supplier. Our "From Cashew Tree to Brighter Lives" model ensures that every purchase directly empowers the smallholder farmers in Bombali District, Sierra Leone. We invest our profits back into farmer training, community projects, and sustainable agricultural practices, making your purchase a force for positive change.
How can I be sure of the quality of PCCNI cashew nuts?
Quality is central to our mission. We employ climate-smart farming and post-harvest handling techniques. Our nuts are carefully sun-dried in our local facilities to preserve their natural flavour and nutritional value. We are building towards international certification, and our focus on quality control at every step ensures a premium product you can trust.
I am a local farmer. How can I join the PCCNI cooperative?
We welcome new members! As a cooperative, we seek farmers in the Northern Region of Sierra Leone who are committed to sustainable practices. Membership involves training and a commitment to our quality standards. Please visit our "Contact Us" page or call us directly at +23277595979 to express your interest and learn about the next steps.
How does PCCNI support women and youth?
Gender and youth inclusion is a core pillar of our work. We actively prioritise training, leadership roles, and land allocation for women and young people. Over 45% of our current farmers are women. By creating sustainable, attractive agricultural livelihoods, we are directly tackling youth unemployment and rural-urban migration.
Do you offer products beyond raw cashew nuts?
Currently, our primary product is high-quality, raw cashew nuts. However, a core part of our vision is to establish a local processing centre. This will allow us to produce and sell value-added products like roasted, salted, and cashew butter, creating more jobs and retaining more value within our community. Stay tuned for updates!
My organisation is interested in partnership or donation. How can we help?
We deeply appreciate your interest! Support is crucial for scaling our impact. Partnerships can range from funding for nursery expansion and processing equipment to technical expertise and market access. Donations directly fund farmer training, community projects in health and education, and our climate-smart initiatives. Please contact our Founder, John Gbongitta, via our contact page to start a conversation.
